GARDEN’S ARE WONDERFUL…A Poem by Bob Shepherd

Our garden fighting off the end of summer.

As the leaves drop onto the ground one by one

It’s natures way of telling us summer’s done

The sun is low and takes a while to shine

Yet the plants in the garden’s shadows are all fine

Slowly the leaves take on their autumn shades

No more long nights as here the sun now fades

My garden remains all year in it’s different forms

Through sunny mornings, rainy days and even snow storms

The rabbits have gone and now the clover has a chance

The birds are alone and doing their little dance

Roxy the bull dog’s favourite lying places throughout the year

Moving with the sun in her garden spaces brings a joyful tear

It’s so tranquil, safe and special and all of those things

As we sit watching the nature that our garden brings

While outside in the world I believe there’s too much bad

To have our wee garden to watch nature makes me glad

There is no place on earth where we ever should be sad
