Today, I’m alive to hear about more dead
It happens every morning as I awake from my bed
The game of filthy politics
Built from “mastery” of big business’s tricks
Money is the route of all evil
A song title as a kid, all about a weevil
The Western media are on the ground no longer
The fourth estate has become weaker today, when it needs to be stronger
Turn on the TV news
Listen for a while, and see what it spews
A spokesperson giving us their sanitized views
As opposed to on the ground news from brave Western crews
There’s wars all around the world today
The innocent civilians are always the ones to pay
But if they were covered by a responsible news feed
It would put pressure on stopping the conflict, and also the bleed
Western journalism is all about being impartial
Western journalism therefore requires a marshall
To implement news gathering including the middle ground
But in Gaza today there are none to be found
Let the locals do it, after all they live there
But they’re under the threat of not being fair
Pressure from Hamas to keep them at bay
Pressure from the Israelis to stay completely away
Bombing and shooting their families is their main threat
As they try to make a news story while they continue to fret
But today at last there is a pause
In order to release a group of hostages, such a great cause
So the Gazans try to move north to bury their dead
While others wait for the trucks as they have to be fed
Let’s move back to Gaza city and retrieve some stuff
But the Israelis shoot…stay there, that’s enough
Dignity is absent if your a Palestinian in need
It will remain that way while others feed off greed
We don’t get the whole truth from our journalists any more
Opinions and parroting others, what on earth is the score?
Get on the ground, I demand it right now
Tell the news how it is, it’s worth a row
Stop sanitizing the film and the photos too
For those pampered people back home should witness the real view
For the dead on all sides deserve their news to be told
