Bob v B.O.B. and his one eyed bull dog.
I’m in my 65th year now, training and fitness in general is becoming more frustrating by the day.
Years and years of military and sports’ mileage has been taking it’s toll over the last 15 years or so.
Fighting through however, was not the right option. No matter our backgrounds, our bodies are the same…they require time and effort to repair. Mine is a small matter of scarred tissue injuries to my lower leg. Years of laziness and not stretching correctly has now caught up with me…silly me. I’ve blogged about it before, terrific comments and responses followed by many individuals telling me that they’re in the same boat…or boot.
I’ve learnt heaps from those responses, as we can all learn from each other.
I’m now on my way to some serious training (for my old age)…at long last. At present, I mix my training week. Light jogging on the sports track. Followed by slow wind up sprinting. Lots of warm ups and warm downs with stretching. A wee bit of light weights, pull ups and dips, sit ups and wheel through the week mixing it in when I can. Weekends is now a 3 mile jog with a 30lb (only) bergen. Followed by 5 x 1 minute rounds with BOB, bergen on. And 5 x 1 minute rounds with BOB, bergen off.
I’m absolutely revelling in it, nice mix of training, I feel terrific…and most importantly, it works for me.
I’d like to thank all the great people, known mates and otherwise who took time to send me their recommendations based on what worked in the past for them…thank you. I wouldn’t be back training to this level without you all.
Always a little further!
