With such a bold title, warfare is likely the first thing that comes to mind with most people, including myself. But up to this point, is it warfare that has almost destroyed all of humanity?
Or has nature come closer, fire, famine, floods etc?
Or has it been disease through no fault of the majority?
Or has there ever been a time when it has been all of these things combined?
I don’t know, simply because I’ve never trusted history as a subject, or historians as people. I just can’t believe it’s accuracy, whether thousands of years ago, or yesterday. But that’s just me, and my extremely cautious mindset.
However, today when I look around at what’s going on, there’s lots of good…but even more bad. The good is coming from the hard working majority…the bad from the rich minority and those who closely serve them.
So…who will win? And dependent on who…will it eventually destroy humanity?
Today the superpowers are ramping up their rhetoric…and their military. From nuclear weapons to AI.
Will either of these destroy humanity?
On the good side, there are hard working extremely clever individuals hell bent on getting off this planet and seeking others to survive on. They know that rare earth materials and even fresh water is running out on earth as our wee rock becomes quickly over populated. Trips to Mars by the human race, really is becoming a race, as the search for the planets that can serve us are largely being done, not as one, but as separate challenges.
But Mars for example is a long way off in time. Humans aren’t prepared for such an event. We have to go back to the Moon first, and basically start afresh from the moon landings of decades ago. It’s like stopping jungle training all those years ago, keeping the manuals, then reading up and sending willing and able youngsters to go back in and put it all back together in practice until they are experienced enough to operate effectively. A long way to go…yes, Mars for humans is decades away in reality.
While these special individuals from engineers to astrophysicists attempt to move forward in the race for essential materials, the greed on Earth continues in many forms.
We have the AI people attempting to raise companies profits by laying off thousands of workers and replacing them with tech, and that’s going on right now. We have the war mongers from the last 20 odd years or even more, starting wars for profit, yet once the $$$$ are pocketed…or not, the wars have ended badly. We have border control being a massive subject in the media right now, causing splits between nations, and millions of displaced individuals with nowhere to go. And of course year on year we have global extreme weather events, where there is an argument that humanity has played it’s part.
If, in my children’s and grand children’s lifetime, they are to live a secure and free life as we in the West have for the last 80 years, then there is lots to do by “actors” who are in positions to represent us all.
Right now, the “actors” are no more than sheep in the West, with the lions dictating in the East.
In my view the sheep need to become lions…and the lions of East and West must come to an agreement in order to save humanity.
The next major war will not be like the last two world wars or indeed the limited wars of the past…the next will have the ability to destroy humanity, and all around it.
