Taking the soldiers out of the war box, when politicians and diplomats fail
Talking for a solution without killing, is always the holy grail
But other actors come into it, especially those pushing for war
So the soldiers just get on with it, in the manner of esprit de corps
The only winners in today’s wars, are those making all the dollars
While the media who cover the conflict, interview the talking head scholars
Decent human beings who just want a normal life
Always get caught in the middle living a life of strife
Food, clean water and shelter, is all that many ask for
Where in normal times for most, the addition of an education and work for sure
Yesterday I woke up…to conflict all around the world
Today I woke up…to conflict all around the world
Tomorrow I’ll wake up…to conflict all around the world
In the beds are innocent babies lying there asleep curled
It’s time to select the greedy, the powerful autocratic sociopaths
From big business Wall St to governments, follow the $$$$ and just do the maths
We the people when sat down together, see one another as exactly the same
But when conflict kicks off it’s not us, it’s the powerful who are always to blame
Today while people are dying, all around us our planet is too
So for our kids and our grand kids futures, we need to talk way more, yes we do
