An Old Face With A Young Mindset A Poem By Bob Shepherd

My face is old and tough

It’s been through the decades of rough

The cold dry air, the scorching sun so fair

The rain and snow and that wind does blow

But as the years go by

I can still both laugh and cry

At the memories from my past

I just hope they continue to last

The humour never fades

As I remember being one of the blades

Doing crazy tasks from orders

As we find our own way across borders

A life of fun no doubt

After all this time I’m allowed to shout

About the times we spent together

In the conflicts’ extreme weather

What’s changed from a boy to today

I explained yesterday in my local café

As a boy people shit outside

And those who smoked…inside

And today we shit inside

And those who smoke…outside
