MY THOUGHTS FOR TODAY ON THE CORONAVIRUS VERSUS THE ECONOMY.

I live in one of the most affected areas of the United States, the NYC suburbs.

Right now, the government is continuing to chase the tail of the coronavirus only. At no point have they been ahead of the game, and therefore because of their implementation of rules, people continue to suffer. If it’s not the weak and ageing suffering directly from the virus, then it’s the rest of the population through loss of jobs to mental frailties through worry. Either worry of the virus or of the economy…or both.
The media keep stating even today that the economy is affected by the virus. No…the economy is affected by the government’s implementation of rules to the virus, something quite different.

I said in my last post on the virus, that in the long term, more people will die through suicide or killing each other through added pressures from government implementation, than from direct contact of the virus.

I still stand by that and here’s why:

Many local governments have now been tightening the rules day by day for sometime now. However, for those few trying hard to put in practice real isolation or social distancing there are way too many who aren’t, even right now.

Just this morning, there were kids running around together with skateboards, and contractors carrying on working in close proximity in groups, simple scenarios just in my hood.

Again, like I said in my previous post, I’m not saying it’s wrong, I’m just stating the facts that this is the behaviour, and therefore in reality the rules are not working!

Every day now, more and more people are losing their jobs…the economy is in the toilet, the masses continue to suffer for the few to put it bluntly.

Over the past two months or so, my whole family may well have had the virus and got over it thinking it was something that we all get at this time of year…who knows? It wasn’t taken seriously here until something happened…too late!

The longer this goes on, the more people not directly effected by the virus suffer…because every single one of us is effected by the economy.

Again, this is NOT working…just take a look around. Try going 24hrs without touching your face. It’s irrelevant whether you wear gloves or not. It get’s in through your eyes, nose or mouth…touch your face with or without gloves and you could well be compromised. Washing, washing, washing is the only safe bet. It’s probably everywhere, but we don’t know because there is no ability to test everyone. Just yesterday, a friend in NYC was turned away from being tested, because she wasn’t “severe enough!”

So, in my opinion, it’s high time that the rules were changed for everyone’s sake. Get the kids back to school to begin with. Get the workforce back to work soonest. Safeguard the old and infirm only…and let’s get the economy back off of it’s arse and let’s all get back to normal.

Put all the “experts” you want on TV, radio, online etc…but if they’re not all on the same page and people aren’t playing the game anyway, then let’s get real here, as the vast majority of the world’s populations can ride out this virus without a hospital visit then let’s return to normality.

After saying this in my last post, I can say it again. I still don’t know directly anyone who has presently been proven to have the virus, even though I know that it’s present in the vicinity…yet I know way too many already who are out of a job!
